I live about 125 miles from where my son is working for the summer. A place called Cannon Beach Oregon. Geographically famous for Haystack Rock. The whole day was about our family so I'll I'll just share the Saab parts.
Everything between me and our little Swede was just perfect today. Refinished wheels, new tires, new suspension, new emblems, fresh wash/vac, and an outstanding audio system. Got my wife in the passenger seat and off we went. My open intake letting out her inner beauty, the weather just gorgeous.
We hadn't even gotten to the freeway when a middle aged man in a 900 vert passes us at the intersection and guess what HE WAVES!!! I wave back laughing, "Honey did you see that?" Just when I thought I was giving up on my years of GIVING the wave, I GET the wave!
I-5 is I-5 and other than my knowledge that we looked absolutely stunning in the 9-5 it was rather uneventful. It was when we left I-5, crossing into Oregon, that traffic disappeared and the road lined itself with trees with peeks of the ocean. I pushed her into plenty of spirited corners with flat, road hugging grip. Her Brew City tune pulled her out of every last one and kept pulling and pulling and pulling!
After we arrived, from where we were visiting, a couple times I watched staff stop and look over the car. Pointing at her little headlight wipers, peeking in the windows and such. That always feels good.
The return trip was just the same in reverse but a little bittersweet as I knew the day was wrapping up. I've put more work into this car than any other Saab we've owned. Like many of you, I've got skin in this game. In the past I've enjoyed bit and pieces of a day like today. Just never all at once. We needed a day like this and we got it. 250 miles of it.
