Just purchased an 06 Aero that I knew needed a motor. Problem is, doofus who owned the car told me it was an 05 Aero, hence it should have a cheap to replace 2.0 high pressure motor. Alas, I bought it without going to see it and had a shipper bring it to me and found that it was an 06 with a 2.8l. Cheapest low-ish mile 2.8l motor I can find is gonna run about $1500. My question is, can I run the Cadillac CTS motor in the car and swap over the turbo and other odds and ends. I know the Cadillac version has slightly higher compression, but I don't think it should be enough to matter. But what do I know, I bought an 06 thinking it was an 05. I can get a 37k mi Cadillac motor delivered to the door with a 6 month warranty for about a grand. What say you? And if it should work, does it have to be the 05 CTS 2.8l or will the 06 and 07 version work as well?
Thanks
