console "blackhole"

I have lost the cover inside the storage bin of the console (it's a small rectangular piece that fits on the vertical wall of the console,towards the bin wall closest to the front of the car, meant to prevent dropping objects below the console)and I managed to drop my ipod in there.I cannot remember the exact procedure on how to remove the console or do I have to remove it to get in there.
