Just bought myself a second Saab :)

Having that morning after Ebay purchase moment of "What the heck did I just get myself into..." But first a little intro to this forum. Currently own a 2006 Saab 93ss sedan 2.0T, bought it new from the dealer and been enjoying it ever since. Has been an absolutely fantastic car, and have enjoyed 135,000 mostly trouble free miles. I am also a frequent read, and occasional poster on in the newer 93 forums.
For a little while now, have had the itch to find an older convertible to fix up. That itch was partially scratched when my now 19 year old daughter got a 1996 VW Cabrio, that I fixed up for her. However, as I am now done with it, the itch returned. Been ebay trolling convertibles ever since, looked at some Saabs, Alfa's, and couple other here and there, but they were all going for more then I was prepared to spend on them. Until last night ;ol; Should be interesting considering what I just bought sight unseen off ebay last night.

Now the important stuff... 1999 Saab 93 SE Convertible Auto, white with black top, black leather, and only 115,000 miles.

The good: body and most of interior look to be in pretty decent condition. Drivers seat has a pretty big wear mark, and carpet looks to be iffy, and Sid has dead pixes. Otherwise, looks good.

The bad: While top looks to be in decent condition, it is non-functional. Engine is also not running. Listing says engine was running when they got car and had lifter noise, but currently not running and will be towing it home. ABS light is also on.

Most importantly, it was cheap!!! Figure by the time I tow it home with my truck, I will be right around the $500 invested mark. Worst case car is toast and not worth fixing and will be a part out to recover my $$$. Right now, sight unseen, I figure it is 50-50 if it gets parted out.

Based on my quick research, I am actually more concerned about getting the convertible top functioning for reasonable price then I am worried about the engine. And then there is the unknown status of the Auto-Tranny. Engine, I am not that concerned with, figure even if it needs a rebuild or used engine dropped in that isn't too much and I have done that before.

Figure right now the cut off is I am probably willing to put $1,000 - $1,500 into it. If I can get it running and reasonably reliable for that, she will be brought back to life, if it is going to be more she gets parted out.
