Hey everyone, I fear that my run with my Saab 9-5 is coming to an end, but I feel as though I should ask for your advice first.
I have a 2000 saab 9-5 which recently has been over heating. I took it to a mechanic and they placed a new thermostat in, the old one was shut closed.
I took my car on little trips and everything was fine until it started overheating again and loosing coolant. We discovered the coolant was escaping through the exhaust. I bought some head gasket sealer and wiped out the moisture in the exhaust pipe. Since then, the exhaust pipe has stayed dry and even started up better.
Today, however, I was driving on the interstate and my car just slowed down and the check engine light flickered. When I restarted the car, I was able to drive a little bit longer before pulling over again. I decided not to keep chancing it. When I popped open the hood, the coolant cap had blown off and the tank was boiling over.
Is my head gasket blown or is there still hope?
