2005+ 9-3's.. Good daily drivers? Saab noob.

Hey all.

Recently it's become necessary to get rid of my truck for something a bit better on gas, 4 doors, and since I'm a major car nerd something more fun. I recently discovered that the 9-3 is in my price range, and found a 2007 9-3 Aero 4-cyl with 95K miles for $8400. I'd like to go see it after work since it's at a dealership literally a block away from my work, only real bummer is that it is an auto.

Anyway, whenever I do searches online I see nothing but positive things from Saab owners, aside from high cost for parts. However, everyone I talk to in person that has never had a Saab always seems to have some sort of horror story or a reason to not get one. Main question, how good would this car be as a daily driver? I really don't foresee doing much modding to it aside from maybe intake/exhaust/wheels or something. I'd love to get one, and unfortunately if my project car was running at the moment it wouldn't be an issue because if anything happened I could just drive that around until it was fixed.. But it's not. So do these things spontaneously break for no apparent reason while driving down the highway like a normal motorist like everyone in person seems to say they do?

Not a noob to cars, so if something does go wrong once the project car is running again it's not an issue. Here are some of my previous projects:

My first 350Z which I turned into a competition drift car

Got tons of videos of that thing in action, it was a great car. Got it bone stock, things went downhill from there:

Second 350Z which I got to be a comfy daily

Which I ended up playing around with anyway... after being so used to sitting in a hot, loud, uncomfortable race car with horrible speakers, being on grid with ice cold ac, super comfy seats, and a nice sound system was weird. It handled like crap though

Then my current project, a 1996 S14 240SX which I'm sort of restoring/semi-racing I guess? It has a bigger turbo, full bolt ons, full suspension, racing seats and junk but I'm trying to clean up the interior and exterior of it all at the same time to be somewhat stockish.

It's currently under the knife due to a blown headgasket from the last owner.

Anyway, nice meeting you all and hoping to go check out that 9-3 today after work. Can't wait, I've always thought Saabs were rad and from what I've been reading here looks like it would be a great car to own.

Cheers!
