Clunky front end

1998 900s two door, 149,000kms (93,125 miles) and the front end is a little 'clunky' at low speeds over small bumps. I am hoping it is just bushes or similar, it passed a 6 monthly Warrant of Fitness 3 months ago with no notes about 'items requiring attention in the next 6 months'. I note from receipts provided by original owner that the tie rod ends have been adjusted and the adjusters re-secured on more than two occasions. The steering is okay although not what you could call 'direct' and it certainly needs extensive 'input' when maneuvering at low speeds and I assume this is characteristic of this model. The gearing seems to change when the speed increases. Wheel studs are all tight and bearings seem okay also. Any thoughts would be appreciated,
