P0300 code, acceleration and starting issues...

My 2003 Vector has been having some check engine light issues lately, all of which were P0300. The car was driving fine, so I chalked it up to a vacuum leak somewhere and cleared the code. After inspecting for a leak, I couldnt find one. So I continued to drive my car.

A day later, I was getting on the freeway and I noticed I wasnt getting nearly the normal acceleration power, soI stepped on the gas a bit and the check engine light came on flashing a few times, then went solid.

Next day I took it back down the the auto store to hook up the OBD2 again. Same code. Cleared it and drove home.

Now, the car wont start. I managed to get it to fire up after pumping the gas pedal while cranking, but got a pretty solid backfire in the process.

After a bunch of research I'm convinced its a bad ignition coil, but I cant be certain, which is why I'm just asking and giving all the details of my specific situation instead of assuming.

Any light that can be shed here would be greatly appreciated. I really want to avoid shop time as I just paid to have the water pump done a few months ago.
