So I noticed our 9-7X was wandering on the road a lot more in the last month or so... when coming to a stop it was really pulling to the right also. Rotated my tires last weekend and noticed they were wearing bad on outside edges up front.
Checked the tie rod play and it was crazy lose! Never seen them go so fast like this. I checked them 7k mi back when I last rotated and all seemed fine. So anyway, ordered 1 inside end and one outside end. One outer had been replaced by previous owner (at less that 58k mi.!)
So had them replaced and front end aligned at a reputable tire and repair shop I use regularly and it only cost $158 total. Happy with that! My friendly Chevy dealer wanted $415 to do same job! And this with me supplying the parts! Those were $105 at summit racing which I thought was good for Moog parts.
The truck drives like new again, tracks so nice! If your SUV is starting to dance from side to side you definitely want to check those tie rod ends! I just don't understand why the OEM ones don't have grease fittings...
