Hello,
Hopefully this helps someone else out along the way... I was having problems with the blower motor on my 2000 9-3 on anything but the high speed. I did the obvious first and replaced the blower motor resistor, which is easy and a well documented repair. That did not fix the issue and eventually the blower motor switch ceased to function.
I ordered a new switch off Amazon from Saab Central and since I work at a Ford/Chrysler dealership I downloaded a page from our on line workshop manual and commenced the repair from the front of the dash. Short version: things went very bad!
I then whipped out the Haynes manual which was slightly more useful and discovered that the glove box and right side of the console needed to be removed to get proper access. A few torx screws and a 10mm head bolt down by the door was all that was between me and seeing what needed to be done. After that, it was easy. Whilst in there I lubricated the heater control cable with silicone spray and all the plastic moving parts as well.
Need to order a few broken knobs now to finish up.
Ciao,
kip
