Cruise control unplugging

Hoping someone can help with a this question on taking out the indicator stalk (cruise control version).

Any ideas where the cruise control wiring can be unplugged (the wires go into the stalk itself)? Do I have to take the dash facia off and unplug at the speedo cable? Any way round it without taking the dash fascia off?

I'm having the floppy stalk reconditioned and have a non-cruise stalk to put on temporarily - I assume there is no issue with driving around with the cruise control unplugged?
