Compressor Surge

Damn. So It's been a while for me to realize this. With the oem filter I could feel the lack of boost sometimes. Mainly going up hills. I then upgraded to a k&n drop in. I noticed it more. I thought the flutter was the way our stock bypass valves sounded. And today I put on a SRI, and it's completely noticeable. This is my third turbo car. I feel like I just can't win with this problem. Each one has turned out the same. My 2.0T is not tuned. No aftermarket performance mods. I have no cel. No codes. It's driving me insane that I don't have any to work with. I know this sound can be considered normal sometimes. But when it's really heavy that's when I fear the worst for the engine and turbo. it's an underlying problem that's been here the whole time. I just never noticed it with the stock filter in the air box. Anyways, has anyone routed the vacuum lines to different ports for better airflow? I did it on a Hyundai before. Those cars are so easy to work on under the hood. I felt like I was the one who built it. What should I check for other than the valve and vacuum lines?
