Dame Edna 'City Light'-on-a-stick not working.

I am replacing a burned-out city light (euro running light) in a 2006 9-5 (dame edna). I have dropped the front bumper and removed the entire headlamp housings (left and right) and pulled the sticks holding the little city light bulbs and replaced them. After reassembly, the LH city light won't come on. I tried 2 brand new bulbs and still no go. I pried out the contacts on the tip of the stick so they might make better contact with the little contacts way inside he headlamp ***'y. Still no luck. Any tips for troubleshooting this?
