Odometer dims itself

2001 9-3 base. Sometimes my odometer reads as bright as did when it came from the factory… but more often than not, it’s so dim it’s hard to read in the daylight. Yes, instrument brightness switch is dialed all the way up and I’m not in night mode.

Anyone else have a similar issue? Not a huge deal, but would like to know if there’s a quick fix… fuse, etc. Thanks.
