Just Bought My First Saab . . .

Greetings to my fellow Swedish car lovers. Longtime Volvo nut with ongoing Saab fetish who has finally decided to take the plunge.

It's a '94 9000 CSE, automatic, with around 240k miles. I was skeptical but the fact that it came with a stack of service and repair records and was owned by a wealthy older lady (who had used the car for years as her daily driver) helped assuage my fears. As did the price: $275.

The car sat for two years so there were of course some issues related to that such as dead battery that can't take a charge, a bit of oil-smoke from the exhaust (initially), general dinginess, etc. However, all systems seem to be in good order, with no warning lights illuminated or any other electrical issues. The tranny shifts fine. The car did stumble a bit on boost, which I would attribute more to the old gas than anything. I didn't have the opportunity to go over it too thoroughly as she accepted my lowball offer (well below scrap value where I live) and I thought it best to do the paperwork and run until I can tow it home . . .

I'm sure this question has been asked a million times, but is there anything in particular I should look out for on a 9000 of this age and mileage? And how does the CSE compare to the other 9000's in terms of reliability, common problems, etc.?

Thanks in advance for any advice and insight you can provide.
