I just bought a 2001 Saab 9-5 2.3t about 3 weeks ago. It has about 126,000 miles on it right now. So far I really have enjoyed the car until the Turbo went out on it. From what I understand the Turbo has been known to fail when the car reaches this mileage.
I don't know much about turbos and have been trying to find reviews and trying to learn as much as I can but im on information overload to figure this out myself. Im also really pressed on time, because this is the only car I have and I need it ASAP.
The main question I have is what turbo can I buy that will be reliable. If you could please be specific. Such as manufacturer and size and what not. My biggest issue is the budget. I have about $500 to spend on a turbo. I cant afford the OEM GT 17 obviously or I would get it. I have seen Nordic turbos for about $450 but I cant find out if they are any good or not. I have the installation part taken care of. Also I have seen the TD 04 turbos that I think can go on the areo for decent prices on Ebay. Is that something that can fit directly onto my car? So I am here to differ to the more experienced and knowledgeable. Any information/ advice would be awesome. Thank you!!
