So I purchased a quite used 900 this weekend for $700. At such a low price I felt I had to but fully expect it to be a pretty constant project car. So the first problem I ran into was that the convertible top just suddenly stopped working last night (I know, fantastic luck). I've done a bunch of research but I can't seem to find my exact problem.
But here it goes. The top was working fine and then last night as I was moving it back it stopped. Today I finally got the time (and light) to figure out what it was doing. Everything works perfectly but then the very rear section gets stuck on the metal joints that lift the soft top cover up. In short, the rear window section doesn't seem to fit into the storage space (even though I know it does). When it stops there is a very quite hum and it becomes a two person job to undo as I have to have someone tell the soft top to go back up while pulling on it gently.
So, is there a separate motor or set of gears that does that part of the job? And what steps should I take to find out exactly what my problem is.
